Heritage Sites, Friendly Towns And Inspiring Desert Landscapes

The best time to visit Morocco is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is mild and pleasant. Summer can be very hot, especially in inland cities like Marrakech and Fez, while winters in the mountains can be chilly.

Morocco’s official languages are Arabic and Amazigh (Berber). However, French is widely spoken, especially in business and tourism. English is increasingly spoken in popular tourist areas, but it’s a good idea to learn basic phrases in French or Arabic.

Morocco is generally considered a safe destination for tourists. However, like in any country, it’s important to take standard precautions, such as avoiding poorly lit areas at night, keeping valuables secure, and being aware of your surroundings in crowded places.

Morocco is a Muslim-majority country, so it’s respectful to dress modestly, especially in rural areas and when visiting religious sites. Women should consider covering their shoulders and knees, while men should avoid wearing sleeveless tops. In more touristy areas like Marrakech, dress codes are a bit more relaxed.

The Moroccan currency is the Dirham (MAD). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, larger restaurants, and shops, but smaller businesses and markets often prefer cash. ATMs are available in most cities, and it’s recommended to carry some local currency for small purchases and tips.

It is generally not recommended to drink tap water in Morocco. Bottled water is widely available, and many visitors opt to use it to avoid stomach issues. Make sure to also avoid ice in drinks unless you know it’s made from purified water.

Some of Morocco’s top attractions include the medinas of Marrakech and Fez, the blue city of Chefchaouen, the Sahara Desert, and the Atlas Mountains. Don’t miss the stunning coastal town of Essaouira or the ancient Roman ruins at Volubilis..
